Myanmar has many rivers, streams, and lakes and a coastline of over 2,200 km. Boats have been an important means of transportation in Myanmar for centuries.
Cruises on the Irrawaddy River and the Chindwin are a wonderful opportunity to see the nature and lifestyle of the Myanmar people. We offer two types of cruises: luxury RV Paukan and RV Ayarwaddy Voyages, middle class Malika & Nmaikha.
The ship RV Paukan is a charming boutique hotel that moves along the river. It is in almost the same style as RV Pandaw, but was built in 2007 and is more comfortable than the RV Pandaw. The combination of ancient and modern motifs defines the style of the boat. It can accommodate 55 passengers to be served by 30 friendly and professional crew members. There are different categories of rooms, including suites, deluxe rooms and superior rooms. Two massage rooms, a stage for cultural performances, a bar and a cinema are available onboard.
The Strand Cruise was custom built in 2015 in a shipyard in Yangon with a shallow 1.4m draft, designed to successfully navigate the shallow rivers of Myanmar. The 61m ship carries up to 50 passengers in 25 cabins along the mystical waterways of the Ayeyarwady River. Named and styled after its sister property, the luxury heritage hotel, The Strand Yangon, The Strand Cruise offers all the features passengers would expect from a Strand product, from flawless service and gourmet a la carte cuisine, to signature elements celebrating the golden age of the Strand as a meeting place for explorers and raconteurs.
The wooden Boat “Princess Royal” is a small, charming boat ideal for groups of 6 to 12 people cruising for one or two nights between Mandalay and Bagan. It consists of seven air-conditioned double cabins, all equipped with a private shower and toilet. On the upper deck, the large deluxe room enjoys a superb panoramic view of the river. The other six cabins are located on the main deck. The Princess Royal offers customers personalized service and an unforgettable experience.
