We have just returned from a three-week trip to Burma organized by the Adorable Myanmar Agency that we discovered on the guide “Le Petit Fute”. Before we committed to choosing this agency, we read reviews on different sites. All the reviews were very appreciative, which made us decide to contact this agency to organize a three-week tour with French-speaking guides and private cars with drivers. We were pleasantly surprised by the responsiveness of Theint and her sister Kyithar in answering each of our questions for the organization of the trip, as well as their professionalism. They were able to organize a trip tailored to our wishes with two days of trekking in the Kalaw region and one homestay night. An unforgettable experience for us! Everything was perfect from the beginning to the end of our stay.

We have traveled extensively in Asia, but this was our first experience with private French-speaking guides and drivers. We appreciated this so much that, from now on, we will only travel under these conditions, and use a local agency whenever possible. We (a retired Swiss couple) prefer to organize our individual trips before leaving home. We believe that we will enjoy a country better if we are surrounded by drivers and local guides who allow us to discover places off the beaten path. However, we always try to utilize small local businesses that best benefit the people of the country we are visiting. After doing some research, we went to “Adorable Myanmar” to organize our 28-day personalized trip to Burma. The praise we had found on different sites was not exaggerated.

On the basis of a first outline of the proposed travel circuit, we went to “Adorable Myanmar” to ask for a route proposal and a quote. We received an answer very quickly by email. Next, using Skype, we discussed the proposal which had been developed for us with great care. The discussions we had with the directors of the “Adorable Myanmar” travel agency, Theint and Kyithar, helped to perfect the trip according to our wishes. Agency officials responded to our suggestions while providing valuable advice. That said, we were very happy with this initial phase.

Upon arrival in Yangon, we were greeted by our driver and guide who brought us to the agency office. Theint greeted us with great care and provided us with valuable information in preparation for our visit to this beautiful country.

These discussions were accompanied by snacks and small, well-chosen gifts (a traditional bag of the Inle region, and natural medicines). This pleasant visit to the agency was an ideal introduction to the extremely nice neighboring population. At each stage of our 28-day “Adorable Myanmar” trip, we had a car and driver at our disposal. All our drivers were not only good road professionals but also excellent traveling companions who were always punctual and ready to guide us in our discoveries – with limited knowledge of English, however. We really appreciated all the guides who provided us with information of exceptional quality. They were anxious to answer all of our questions and to familiarize us with their daily lives.

We especially remember the guide and the driver in Loikaw who, at home the night before our excursion in the mountains and the village of HteKho, had prepared a traditional picnic for our outing. And we will not forget the two young guides, Sai and Htet, who were so enthusiastic during our two-day trek around Kalaw, or Kyaw Thet in Bagan who surprised us with his historical knowledge (of the country, the continent, and even of Europe) and introduced us to absolutely extraordinary architecture. They all demonstrated unconditional dedication to their respective tasks.

We also wish to add that we liked the choice of hotels. We remember with great pleasure the charm of the Cinderella Hotel in Mawlamyaine; the sumptuous Inle Resort; the original Pindaya Inle Inn Chalet; the very comfortable My Bagan Residence in Bagan; and most especially, the beautiful Thande Beach Hotel, which in our opinion, is the most pleasant hotel by the sea in Ngapali Beach. But the most beautiful experience was staying in a remote village (in the mountains near Kalaw, where there were no other tourists in the village!) where we were received as private guests in a peasant house.

From 24/01 to 06/02/2019 we visited the regions of Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake and Yangon. There were no false notes throughout our trip.

Dede, our traveling friend who serves as our personal and private travel agency, invited us on a trip to Myanmar! What is it? Where is it?

Oh, yes! We know about Burma (Myanmar) from the information that Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi provided in the world media a few years ago. So, why not give it a try? Myanmar is a country that is opening up but suffering from a weak infrastructure. Myanmar’s scarcity of good roads and hotels keeps it from attracting crowds of continental tourists like Thailand, its neighboring country. What if we went? Myanmar, in fact, means “fast and strong” as was the Burmese ethnic group that invaded and created the country at the beginning of the millennium.

Therefore, Dede searched the Internet to find tour operators’ sites on the various forums. This is how he found Adorable Myanmar, owned by two young women who are very involved in their profession. What a great nose he had for sniffing out the best travel agency in Burma Myanmar!

These two sisters are very professional and friendly, and they have concocted the perfect vacation plan to learn about their country and its culture. It is true that there is Buddha, Buddha, Buddha, and pagodas, pagodas, pagodas, but this tells us about what is important in the history and culture of the country.

They assigned us Sue-Zane to be our guide. She accompanied us during our three-week vacation, and we were not disappointed. Sue-Zane is a cultured young French-speaking woman who we found to be very sympathetic and empathetic. Steeped in the Buddhist culture of her country, she made us tremendously interested in learning about Myanmar. We can honestly say that Sue-Zane and Adorable Myanmar are the best, and they introduced us to the best of their country.

The country formerly known as Burma remains very poor, and it needs the tourist economy to help it develop. We were happy to contribute to it.

Besides the mystical site of the Golden Rock, important to see for the curiosity of its site and its surroundings, the area of Lake Inle has greatly pleased us by the majesty and the Zen of its ambiance, the real floating gardens and the villages on stilts. Mandalay and the surrounding area, authentic artisans, the longest teak bridge in the world, the Phowin Caves, the Bagan site, countless “Magical” pagodas, and romantic sunsets.

We ended our journey by basking in the Andaman Sea, in the Bay of Bengal, in the west of the country (yes, because in the east there is no sea). Besides our muscular legs and minibus, we used every other means of transportation such as public taxis, a carriage, a canoe, a boat, an electric scooter, a train and an airplane.

To conclude, we enjoyed a permanently blue sky without the hint of a single cloud and ideal temperatures during our three-weeks winter vacation (January-February). Without hesitation, choose adorable Myanmar and you… will adore.

That’s it, I went back to France! After a few good nights to recover, I am taking the time to write to you to say a huge THANK YOU. I dreamed of coming to Burma for a very long time. Finally, I did it! This trip was fabulous. I will remember for a long time those women, men, and children I took pictures of in the umbrella factory, in villages during the Trek, and in Inle. I will also remember all the fruits and vegetables you grow! Turmeric, onions, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, red pepper, gladys, chrysanthemums, pears, mandarins, oranges, celery, coriander, ginger, sweet pepper, figs, strawberries, etc. I also have fond memories of the floating gardens of Inle Lake, the trekking route around Kalaw, and the road between Mandalay and Bagan. I will remember the markets of Nyang U, or Pindaya, which were so rich in colors, smells, and flavors! I will remember and meditate upon the magnificent temples of Bagan, which spread as far as the eye can see. Moreover, I will remember those smiles, the laughs, the kindnesses, the conversations, and the open-minded people who are happy to meet, look, and share. We lack superlatives to express our feelings after such a stay which included a clash of cultures and wonderful sites (Bagan, Pindaya, Inle, Mount Popa, etc.).

There were amazing contrasts (the trek with homestay and therefore Spartan comfort, followed by a hotel resort worthy of the greatest palaces.)

Our return to France went well after 15 hours of flight. We are so happy to have had the chance to visit your beautiful country that it makes us forget the bad weather here and the fatigue generated by the jet lag.

We are two couples of friends returning from three wonderful weeks spent in Myanmar in January 2016. Our full satisfaction is due to the change of scenery, to the beauty of the varied landscapes we crossed, and to the smiles and to the philosophy of life of the populations we met. We chose to build our trip with this French-speaking private Burmese agency because, in addition to being acclaimed by its customers, it relies on local actors (guides, cooks, drivers, and landlords). All of these locals we encountered in our travels helped to increase our understanding of the country’s mentality, spirituality, and ethnic nuances.

Our journey ended. We moved forward. The price was acceptable, and the final budget was consistent with the estimate. The program built for us was in concert with our requests. The timing was perfect. Our days were dense with activity, but the itinerary respectfully included sufficient time for rest and contemplation. Our desire to experience a variety of geographical areas, themes and means of transport (plane, road, rail, and boat) was fulfilled. Our hotels were architecturally beautiful as well as clean and comfortable. Our various companions were always punctual, attentive, smiling, available, and quick to satisfy the caprices of photographers. We had a driver and a vehicle every day. It was a very modern van-type vehicle with a soft and comfortable interior to make the transfers pleasant. To conclude with the transportation, I’d like to note that for many of our trips on the water (Inle Lake, Irrawaddy), we were alone in the boat. The privacy helped to reveal the aesthetics of the place, and increased the singular charm of the moment. We finished our itinerary at Ngapali Beach on the Bay of Bengal. An ideal step to internalize the sun, and a beautiful ending to our journey.

We are a group of nine people who traveled with Adorable Myanmar from January 13 to 30, 2016.

We highly recommend this very professional agency, which allowed us to make a wonderful trip. We particularly recommend visiting Indain and Monywa, visiting the Bagan temples with electric bicycles, (which are actually closer to a Vespa than to a bicycle) and the Sankar site on Inle Lake, even though the trip by canoe may seem a bit long. Especially make sure that you do a trek. We went on the one and a half day option, but if we were to do it again we would choose to undertake the three-day trek. Visits to artisans of all kinds are exciting, and you should not ignore them.

We went out almost every night for dinner outside the host’s homes, and at no time did we feel unsafe. One regret: we all gained weight, as the food was too good and too abundant.

Les étapes bien choisies : outre les étapes traditionnelles, nous avons apprécié Mawlamtine et Npah-An ( la croisière entre ces 2 villes est vraiment très belle ) et bien sur le bord de mer.
Un grand nombre de centres d’intérêt à chacune de ces étapes : cérémonie du noviciat à Mingun par exemple.
Les hôtels toujours agréable et bien situés avec un personnel attentif à nos demandes : aucune anicroche au cours du voyage.
Les professionnalisme et l’attention des chauffeurs qui, malgré notre anglais hésitant, ont su s’adapter à nos demandes. Leurs conseils et suggestions, toujours pertinents, nous ont aidés à bonifier nos choix.
A chaque é tape, nous avons pu apprécier l’offre, parfois originale, de petits restaurants aux alentours des hôtels.

Les quelques petites restrictions que nous pouvons formuler ne concernent pas l’organisation, mais plutôt notre capacité phtsique à subir certaines situations : par exemple le cahotement des calèches à Ava ou l’inconfort du taxi sans siège sur les routesdéformées à Bilu-Kyun.
